Estate Plan Signing FAQs

What types of estate planning documents can you notarize virtually? I can notarize many estate planning documents such as trusts, power of attorney forms, advance healthcare directives, and more. Please note: Virginia law does not allow wills or testamentary trusts to be notarized online.

Do you work directly with attorneys to complete client signings? Yes. I frequently collaborate with estate planning attorneys to notarize documents for their clients. I’m happy to accommodate your preferred process, provide status updates, and ensure your client receives professional, courteous service.

Can my spouse or co-signer join from a different location? Yes—each signer can log in from a separate location, but all signers must be present at the same time during the appointment.

What if a signer is elderly or not comfortable with technology? No problem. I provide simple, step-by-step instructions ahead of time and offer real-time support during the session. I also recommend having a trusted person nearby (off-camera) to assist with setup if needed.

Do you provide witnesses? Yes. I can coordinate professional witnesses if required. Advance notice is needed, and additional fees apply.

Can I receive a copy of the signed and notarized documents directly? Absolutely. Once the session is complete and payment is confirmed, I can securely send the executed documents to you, your client, or both—whichever you prefer.

Are your notarizations accepted by financial institutions and recorders? Yes. All virtual notarizations are conducted according to Virginia law using secure, compliant platforms. If you have a specific underwriter or institution with unique requirements, I’ll work with you to ensure everything is accepted. It is always best to check with the receiving institution to ensure they will accept an electronically signed and electronically notarized document.

How quickly can you schedule a signing once I send over the documents? I offer flexible scheduling, including same-day and next-day appointments whenever possible. Once I receive the finalized documents and signer contact details, I’ll send scheduling and prep instructions directly to the client and CC your office. Additional fees may apply for rush requests.

Is virtual notarization legally valid for estate documents? Yes. Virginia-authorized virtual notarizations are legally valid and widely accepted, but it's always best to confirm with your attorney, financial institution, or relevant party.

Can I include you in our client intake process or document prep timeline? Absolutely. I’m available to integrate seamlessly with your process—whether you prefer to prepare documents first or loop me in early to help coordinate timing and logistics.
